The Faculty of Mathematical Sciences comprises five departments: Mathematics, Applied and Industrial Mathematics, Statistics, Biometry, and Data and Computer Sciences. It was established in 1991 by merging the Statistics and Mathematics departments. Before this, the Statistics Department was part of the Comprehensive Faculty of Informatics and Management, while the Mathematics Department belonged to the Faculty of Sciences.

The Mathematics Department commenced its activities in the Faculty of Sciences during the 1968-1969 academic year, and the Statistics Department began in the Comprehensive Faculty of Informatics in 1970-1971. The Institute of Higher Education in Statistics and Informatics was integrated into the Statistics Department in 1983, following the Cultural Revolution. In 1999, the Computer Science Department was established within the faculty, welcoming its first students in this discipline. Today, all departments offer undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs.
